CTD rounds up two terrorists from DI Khan

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday rounded up two terrorists of banned outfits in an operation in Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar.

The law enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown against banned outfits under the National Action Plan (NAP). The action against banned outfits is said to be in line with the decisions made during a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) in January this year.

According to CTD officials, the operation was carried out in village Jhok Hayat, an area of DI Khan in Peshawar.

Suicide jackets, two rocket launchers, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), hand grenade and other material was recovered from the custody of arrested hardcore terrorists of the proscribed organisation, the CTD officials said.

In a separate action in Lahore, on March 13, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab police had arrested two suspected terrorists, said to be associated with a proscribed organisation in Gujranwala.

According to CTD officials, the terror suspects were arrested during a raid near Pasrur Road. They were identified as Muhammad Nawaz and Ghulam Mustafa.

Arms and explosive material were recovered from their possession, a CTD official said, adding the held suspects used to collect donations for a terrorist outfit and target law enforces.
