Buzdar breaks silence on comparison with ex-CM Shehbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has finally broken silence over constantly being compared with former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In an interview, CM Buzdar was asked his opinion on always being compared with his predecessor.

Replying to the query, he said, “No doubt, Shehbaz Sharif had much greater experience. He kept ruling Punjab for 30 years while I got the chance for the first time. However, I will show my performance to the people.”

The Punjab chief minister said that not even single file is currently pending at the CM Office. “Time will tell how I proved to be the chief minister,” he said.

There have been reports that Prime Minister Imran Khan is unhappy over the performance of CM Buzdar. On Monday, PM Imran Khan had summoned Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for a meeting to provide an explanation over a bill seeking an increase in members’ salaries recently passed by the Punjab Assembly.

The bill approving an increment in provincial lawmakers’ salaries and fringe benefits was passed by the Punjab Assembly last week. The next day, the prime minister had taken to Twitter to express his “extreme disappointment” over the move, saying that it was “untenable” in the current atmosphere when the country “[does] not have resources to provide basic amenities to all our people”.
