ISLAMABAD: The Homicide Unit of Islamabad Police have arrested a person allegedly involved in the killing of his daughter in name of honour here at `Khana Dak’ area, a police spokesman said.
He said that Superintendent of Police (Rural) Muhammad Umer Khan received information that an 18-year-old girl Ghanwa Jabeen d/o Yunus resident of Khanna Dak mysteriously died a few days back and the family hurriedly shifted the dead body to a native village in Chakwal for burial.
Following this information, SP (Rural) constituted a special team under the supervision of DSP Chaudhry Abid Hussain which launched investigation keeping in view the possibility of honour killing by family.
The police team succeeded to unearth the facts and statement of the mother of the deceased also ascertained the claim that Ghanwa Jabeen was killed by her father.
Police have arrested Yunus who confessed during initial interrogation that he suspected the girl’s character and subsequently stabbed her to death on March 12, 2019.
Police have recovered the bloody clothes of the girl while further investigation is underway into the matter.
