Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed on Monday alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif had asked for an NRO [National Reconciliation Ordinance] type deal, claiming that he had witnessed it.
Addressing a news conference, Rasheed said he did not see Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz seeking an NRO-type deal for themselves, however, Shehbaz had asked for it.
“I challenge Shehbaz Sharif to prove me wrong,” he said, adding that he would quit politics if his claim proved to be untrue.
He maintained that Prime Minister Imran Khan would never strike any deal with “corrupt politicians”.
Without naming leaderships of the rival parties, Rashid said, “Those who pretend to be very powerful while in government cannot even spend four days in prison.”
Speaking on the issue of PML-N top leader’s medical treatment, the minister said that the real issue behind the “medical treatment is to get bail in corruption cases”.
Expressing his anger over PPP Chairman Bilawal-Bhutto-Zardari’s ‘derogatory’ comments against him, Rasheed warned Bilawal of the toughest response.
The minister avoided to respond to the criticism of Bilawal’s sister Bakhtawar and PML-N’s leader Maryam, saying: “Both are like my daughters and it is not appropriate for me to respond to them.”
Of late, in a tweet Bakhtawar had demanded to sack the railways minister saying that he had given “death threat” to Bilawal.
