LAHORE: The trophy for the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was unveiled on Saturday at the Karachi’s National Stadium amid much fanfare.
Quetta Gladiators’ skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Darren Sammy were in attendance when the coveted trophy was unveiled. Both teams will contest for the prestigious title on Sunday.
Addressing the presser after the ceremony, Sarfraz said that “the fifth season of the league should take place in Pakistan”. Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced that PSL 5 will be entirely held in Pakistan.
Lauding the cricket passion in Pakistan, he held that: “the crowd has supported every [PSL] team.”
Star West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy dismissed the reports of security concerns in Pakistan and said that he is enjoying cricket as well as the city of lights. He further asserted that he always enjoyed the league whether it is held in UAE or Pakistan.
The final fixture of the on-going season of the PSL will be played on Sunday at the National Stadium. Former Barca legend Carles Puyol – who landed in Karachi on Saturday to promote the 2019 World Soccer Stars – will also attend the season finale.
