Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz said Friday she was denied the permission to meet her father Nawaz Sharif who is incarcerated at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail.
The former prime minister’s daughter took to Twitter and said, “I wanted to meet MNS tomorrow to ask after him as he is unwell but the permission has been denied.”
“Was told the concerned authorities were helpless as orders have been issued ‘directly by the govt’. Remember, life is an echo. What you send out, comes back,” she added.
On Tuesday, Maryam said she met her father Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat jail where the former prime minister continues to have angina which last recurred on Monday night.
In a tweet, the former premier’s daughter said that due to Nawaz’s present condition, she would not be able to have a meeting with him on Thursday. She also thanked people for their love and support.
She said, “Just got out of Kotlakhpat jail. MNS continues to have angina, last night being the latest recurrence. In view of his health, the (regular) Thursday meeting would not be possible. Thank you very much for your love, prayers & support for MNS.”
Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia corruption reference while his legal team has filed a petition to have his sentence suspended on medical grounds. He is incarcerated at the Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail.
