NADRA chairman’s appointment case adjourned till April 19

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday adjourned hearing of a plea challenging the appointment of National Database and Regulatory Authority (NADRA) Chairman Usman Mobin until April 19.

Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC conducted hearing of the petition, filed by through Hafiz Arafat Advocate.

Presenting his arguments in the case, the counsel of NADRA said Mobin was qualified and eligible for the post of chairman NADRA and his appointment was legal.

“Mobin was appointed on the post after interview of selection board as he was more experienced as compared to other candidates,” the counsel said in his arguments.

He further added, according to the high court verdict, the cabinet can appoint chairman NADRA without giving advertisement for the post.

Later, the court deferred hearing of the case until April 19 after the NADRA counsel completed his arguments in the case.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel contended before the bench that the appointment of chairman NADRA was made against the rules.

Mobin Usman didn’t meet the requirement for the slot, he added He argued that the mentioned age limit in the advertisement for the post was contradictory with the Constitution.
