KARACHI – The Pakistan Cricket Board, while representing the entirety of the nation, took massive steps towards sustained return of international cricket to the country after successfully hosting foreign athletes in the middle of war.

Over the past decade, the nation has been deprived of international cricket owing to the deteriorating security situation in the country. But officials believe the strongest statement has been sent out to the rest of the world about the now undoubted safety, after foreign stars from six different franchises successfully plied their trade within undisputed territory of the country which was engaged in war with its neighboring country.

“I can’t think of a better way to tell the world that our country is safe to host international cricket than successfully doing so in the middle of war,” PCB chairman Ehsan Mani said while talking to The Dependent.

“We have proven in recent weeks that if anyone tries to target anyone in this country we will just shoot down their jet and capture their pilot,” he added.

Observers note that Pakistan has now hosted international cricket amid bomb blasts a few kilometres from the cricket stadium, and now in the middle of a war between two nuclear armed states.

“If anything we should be asking other countries to similarly prove if they’re safe enough to host us,” Mani maintained.
