Indian pilot Abhinandan Varathaman, who was captured by Pakistan on February 27 after a dogfight between PAF and IAF, has been sent on a ‘sick leave’ after debriefing by Indian Air Force (IAF) and other Indian agencies.

According to Indian news agency ANI: “The debriefing of  Wing Commander has been completed by the Indian Air Force and other agencies. Now the officer would be going on sick leave for a few weeks on the advice of doctors of Army’s Research and Referral Hospital.”

The news agency further reported that a medical board will assess the medical fitness of the pilot in the near future.

Abhinandan was captured by Pakistan military after downing his MiG-21. The Indian pilot was, however, released by Pakistan in a peace gesture and to defuse the tension between Pakistan and Indi.
