ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Wednesday said the rise of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to power in the country was a revolution of the middle class and the youth were a harbinger of that change.
Addressing the convention of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Wing here, the minister said the people of the province, particularly the youth, were the first in the country to repose confidence in the PTI leadership.
The youth had the political vision and laid the foundation of Naya Pakistan by overwhelmingly voting for the PTI in the 2013 general election, he added.
The minister said a two-political party system was in vogue in the country. The two parties were in collusion to perpetuate their hold on the political system, but they were defeated by the PTI under the leadership of Imran Khan.
He said Imran Khan had defeated the corrupt mafias and the political parties believing in the status quo were now even afraid of his name.
He said Imran Khan had leadership qualities as nobody else in the country had the courage to stand against the mafias. His fight was not against any person as he only wanted return of the national wealth which was looted and transferred abroad by the previous rulers, the minister added.
Fawad said with Naya Pakistan in the making, the country was entering a new era of development and prosperity, and the youth were its asset. The PTI’s coming to power was the first step towards changing the obsolete political system and the support of youth was vital for the realisation of that goal, he added.
He said during the recent tense situation on the eastern borders, the entire nation got united and stood behind Prime Minister Imran Khan, which was proof of his leadership qualities. The PTI promoted the national politics burying that of regional and lingual biases as people from Karachi to Khyber were supporting Imran Khan, he added.
Fawad said the previous rulers had destroyed the national institutions by inducting their cronies in sheer violation of merit and rules. The present government would create an environment in the country, which would increase employment opportunities for the youth.
He said the housing projects were being launched for the benefit of the general public.
