PM Imran approves National Tourism Coordination Board

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to revive the tourism sector in the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday approved National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB) and working groups.

According to a notification, prime minister’s Special Assistant on overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari was appointed as acting chairman of the NTCB.

The board will coordinate with the national and international organization to boost the tourism sector in the country. The board would also work for promotion and marketing of tourism spots and would provide a platform to devise a comprehensive strategy on tourism. NTCB would also provide technical assistance to the provinces in the field of the tourism sector.

The board is comprised of chairman Board of Investment, secretary Inter-provincial Coordination, joint secretaries of Civil Aviation Authority, Foreign Office, Interior Ministry and Information Ministry.

Kamran Lashari, Ali Asghar, Sirajul Malik, Samina Baig, Behram Avari and others are included in the board as private members.

Earlier, the federal government, on February 4, had approved the formation of the National Tourism Coordination Board for rebuilding Pakistan’s image on tourism front at the international level.

The decision was taken during a meeting of Federal Tourism Task Force which was presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The meeting was attended by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, PM’s special assistants Iftikhar Durrani and Zulfi Bukhari, and other officials of relevant departments.
