Sindh CM assures support for advancement of KU’s IT infrastructure

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has assured to extend all support for the advancement of IT infrastructure in Karachi University coupled with the upgradation of its technological labs functional in its varied departments.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of the first two-day International Conference on Information Science and Communication Technology (ICISCT), organised by Computer Sciences department of KU, last evening, he said relentless efforts were needed at every level to sustain quality standards of the institutions, particularly the centres of learning and research.

With regard to development in the fields of computer and information technology, Shah said this has changed the lives of human beings in an extremely stark manner.

“We cannot refute the fact that the life of each one of us is highly dependent on the scientific inventions and modern-day technology,” he said highlighting the importance of its promotion at every level.

Mentioning that its effect has been well observed in spheres like medicines, education, infrastructure, electricity, aviation, information, computer, metallurgy, physics, nuclear energy, space technology, defense research, biotechnology, household, sports, job, tourism, agriculture and numerous other fields, Sindh CM said concerted efforts are needed across the country for its promotion.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said technology, to an extent, has even conquered the space, and once added incorporate the use of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, predictive analysis, machine learning and business intelligence devices, and others are helping to find new avenues in management, operation and conduct of business.

“Increase in cloud storage, cloud computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence well reflect that technology very soon would have a node to connect with our body and collect the data based on human activities in real time,” he said.

Sindh CM said he had absolute confidence on the local talent, in particular, the context of computer science and thanked the keynote speakers, many comprising foreign experts, for sharing their experiences and knowledge with the young researchers of the country.
