SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Shah has said that the federal government wants to put the entire opposition in jail.

The PPP stalwart, who was visiting a government hospital in Sukkur’s district of Panu Aki, claimed that he is ready to go to jail “any time”.

He added, “They [federal government] wish to send us all to prison and sit in National Assembly alone. We are always prepared to go to prison. We have competed against Ziaul Haq in the past, Fawad Choudhary is nothing [compared to Zia].”

Lashing out at Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Shah said that he must feel ashamed for words said to him by Hamid Khan.

“If someone from my party said such statements for me, I would have committed suicide [by now]”, he added.
