Akmal, Hasan cement victory for Zalmi

–Peshawar Zalmi 203 for 7 (Kamran 86, Imam 59, Amir 3-24) beat Karachi Kings 142 (Ingram 71, Imad 30, Hasan Ali 3-15) by 61 runs

Peshawar Zalmi’s opener Kamran Akmal and fast bowler Hasan Ali helped defeat Karachi Kings by 61 runs in Monday’s fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Stadium Karachi.

Kings were all out on 142 in 16.2 overs, in their 204 run-chase.

CA Ingram offered a relative resistance from Kings with his 71 off 37 balls innings, including seven boundaries and four sixes. Soon after his departure, Kings lost its chasing streak.

Skipper Imad Waseem scored 30 off 25 before giving his wicket to Hasan Ali.  Sameen Gul and Wahab Riaz picked two wickets each.

Mohammad Amir made a comeback and picked three wickets off 24 runs. Colin Munro picked two wickets while Usman Shinwari sent one batsman to the pavilion.

Akmal was well assisted by Imamul Haq 59 off 40 balls before giving his wicket to Amir.

Karachi’s thrilling one-run victory against top-ranked Quetta Gladiators last night rendered both of today’s matches as virtual dead rubber contests.

Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United and Karachi Kings are safely through to the playoffs.

With this game, the playoff matches have been confirmed.
