A meeting member also proposed that philanthropists must also contribute their share in the project as well as supervising it.

The premier asked officials to take every possible step for the construction of more homeless shelters.

The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had initially planned five shelter homes in different cities of Punjab under the project.

The shelter home project is aimed at housing a number of homeless people who usually spend nights on footpaths or other places in different areas of Lahore city.

The PM maintained that on his recent visit to China, he expressed his desire to learn from the neighbouring country about their poverty alleviation measures and will implement a similar plan in Pakistan.

The government, on September 11, had also announced to introduce a special programme for street children to educate them and bring them into the mainstream.

The PM arrived in Lahore on Saturday and held one-to-one meetings with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Governor Chaudhry Sarwar.

The Punjab chief minister briefed the premier over the matters of the province following which the latter directed to give priority to steps aimed at providing relief to the public.

It has been agreed that every week, two days would be dedicated for arranging the tour in which the citizens would get access to the buildings of the palatial governor house.

The Punjab governor apprised PM regarding the clean water projects, and matters pertaining to the public universities. Several provincial matters were also discussed during their meeting.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to launch the Punjab enrollment policy.
