Gunmen ‘kill 14 people’ after shooting into crowd in Mexican nightclub

An armed gang has killed more than a dozen people in a mass shooting inside a strip club in Mexico, according to reports.

Reportedly, the gangsters arrived in a convoy of trucks armed with assault rifles just after midnight.

They then callously sprayed bullets into the crowd, leaving the dance floor blood-soaked.

Weeks before the attack, a banner threatening innocent people would die if security forces didn’t leave the state was put up in the city, InSight Crime reported.

It is said the gang, which formed in 2017, is involved in a bitter feud with the Jalisco cartel.

José Antonio “El Marro” Yépez Ortiz, is reportedly the leader of the fuel theft gang.

Authorities have been hunting him amid a fuel theft crackdown and seized a luxury home yesterday.

Salamanca is located in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, where the number of murders last year doubled according to local media.

Mexican security analyst Alejandro Hope wrote in his column published in El Universal that capturing the leader “would be a good blow for the new federal administration in its campaign against fuel theft.”

He said he believed the government “is probably also starting to need quick victories,” he added.

“The capture of a person like El Marro falls into that category.”

He also warned that leading gang lords become untouchable “could generate much more violence in the long term than that which would be prevented by not decapitating criminal gangs.”
