LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday dismissed a petition challenging appointment of former district and sessions judge (D&SJ) Nazir Ahmad Gajana as director general Punjab Judicial Academy (PJA), after declaring it as non-maintainable.
Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh had reserved the decision on maintainability of the plea after hearing initial arguments a few days ago and it was announced on Friday.
A local lawyer had filed the petition challenging the DG PJA appointment. He submitted that the appointment of former D&SJ was appointed in violation of the PJA rules. He submitted that under the PJA rules, only a sitting high court or sessions court judge could be appointed as DG PJA. He pleaded with the court to set aside the appointment.
