Fraudsters arrested for looting PIMS patients’ families

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police arrested three persons of a gang involved in looting attendants of patients at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital, a police spokesman said.

He said that a special team was constituted by DIG Operations Waqar Uddin Syed after some reported incidents of snatching valuables from attendants of patients in the PIMS hospital.

This team under the supervision of SP Saddar Malik Naeem Iqbal including SHO Karachi Company Habibur Rehman, ASI Haider Ali Shah, Head Constable Umer Daraz and others worked hard and succeeded to arrest three two persons identified as Bilal, Nauman and Hamza residents of Abbottabad.

They used to wander in the hospital along with children, pose them as attendants of other patients and take away mobile phones, cash, wallet during a conversation with genuine attendants.

During the preliminary investigation, they confessed to committing such acts in various hospitals of Taxila and Mansehra. Police also recovered four stolen mobile phones, Rs50,000 and other items from them.

Their physical remand has been obtained from the concerned court after registration of cases against them. Further investigation is underway.

DIG Operations Waqar Uddin Syed has appreciated this performance and directed all police officials to ensure effective policing measures in their respective areas.
