Zalmi qualifies for play-offs under Misbah’s guidance

A 100-run partnership stand between skipper Sammy and Misbah ul Haq prevented an upset defeat to the Peshawar Zalmi as at one point of the time the team were 5-20 in 125 run-chase in today’s first fixture in Abu Dhabi as the race to the Pakistan Super League playoffs heats up

Lahore Qalandars pacers with their back to back wickets put life in a low-scoring match as the game dragged till the last over of the innings. While the balling attack is coming with full throttle the batting continues to wobble.

Misbah scored 59 off 55 while and injured Sammy contributed with 46 off 36.

Qalandars batting line collapsed again as except Haris Sohail’s 43 off 33, with four boundaries and a six, no other players managed to play substantive innings. The team managed to score just 124 runs.

Tymal Mills took three wickets, Sameen Gul took two while Liam Dawson adn Wahab Riaz picked one each.

Quetta Gladiators became the first team to seal their spot in the playoffs after thrashing Peshawar Zalmi on Monday, whereas Multan Sultans were the first team to be eliminated having managed just two wins from nine games.

The next few games will be critical for Lahore, who have three wins from seven games and would be looking to inch upwards on the points table to avoid crashing out of the tournament and repeating their nightmare from the previous three editions of the league.

Peshawar Zalmi, placed second on the table, have five wins from eight games and look close to making the playoffs.
