A brilliant bowling spell from Usman Shinwari and Liam Livingstone’s anchoring half-century brought Karachi Kings home against Multan Sultans as the two teams at the bottom of the 2019 Pakistan Super League (PSL) points table faced each other at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Livingstone scored an unbeaten 53 of 42 balls despite wickets falling on the other end. Colin Ingram added 31 to Kings score. For Sultans, Mohammad Abbas picked two wickets but the pick of the bowlers was youngster Mohammad Ilyas who sent three batsmen to the pavilion while just giving away 27 runs.
Earlier, Sultans set a 119-run target for Kings. A strong bowling attack from Kings led by Usman Shinwari, who claimed four wickets, restricted Sultans to 118-7 in the first innings. Umer Khan also picked up three wickets for Karachi.
Hammad Azam was the lead scorer for Multan with 29 runs. The Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shinwari was in for Mohammad Amir, whose mother is unwell.
Before this game, Karachi won three of the seven matches played while Multan, at the bottom of the table, won two of the eight matches.
