PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) Judge Justice Ayub Khan Thursday received injuries after two unidentified armed men opened fire at his vehicle.
According to police reports, the senior judge was on his way to court when assailants opened fire on his vehicle injuring him and the driver.
“They were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Qaseem Riaz adding that their health condition is improving now.
“The gunmen, who fled the scene shortly after the incident, used a 9mm Kalashnikov,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zahoor Afridi said.
Police have sealed the locality and started an investigation.
“Statements of two eyewitnesses have been recorded so far,” SSP Afridi told the media.
It is pertinent to note here that Justice Khan has previously served as an accountability judge in Peshawar.
