ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday summoned Acting Indian High Commissioner (HC) Gaurav Ahluwalia to the Foreign Office (FO) and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces.
Cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nikial and Khuiratta sectors had on Tuesday resulted in the death of four innocent civilians. Six other people had also been injured.
According to a statement issued here, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Arrangement, investigate the violations and instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire so that peace is maintained along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB).
He also urged India to permit United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
