ISLAMABAD: The government has summoned an emergency meeting of Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) today to ensure the uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products to the armed forces in an emergency or war-like situation due to the prevailing Pakistan-India tensions.
According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the meeting has been scheduled for February 27, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Committee Room, 3rd Floor, Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), A Block, Pak Secretariat, Islamabad under the chairmanship of Petroleum Division secretary to discuss the available stocks of crude oil and petroleum products in the country and to devise a mechanism for uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products to armed forces in an emergency or war-like situation.
OCAC has been requested to invite all MDs/CEOs of the oil refineries and oil marketing companies for the subject meeting. Further, OCAC is also requested to prepare a working paper for the above meeting and to ensure the attendance of the aforementioned invitees as well.
This development comes in the wake of prevailing Pakistan-India tensions and the threat of strikes by India.
