SUKKUR: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khursheed on Monday offered for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s treatment to be carried out in Sindh.
“The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) is fully equipped with latest technology and specialist doctors to treat Nawaz Sharif,” Shah said while interacting with journalists in Sukkur.
He said that it was Nawaz’s choice to get treated from wherever he wants, but the Sindh government would feel happy if he comes to the province for medical treatment.
Reacting over Islamabad High Court (IHC)’s verdict of binning the erstwhile prime minister’ bail plea, the PPP leader said that he should have been granted bail on medical grounds owing to his health issues.
Currently, Nawaz is under treatment at the Jinnah Hospital. He was shifted from Kot Lakhpat Jail to the hospital ten days ago.
Earlier in the day, the IHC had rejected Nawaz’s plea seeking suspension of his sentence in the Al-Azizia reference on medical grounds.
The IHC division bench, comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, dismissed the plea, stating that the bail could not be granted on medical grounds as he could easily avail the best treatment that the country can offer.
“Nawaz Sharif is not suffering from any disease which cannot be treated in Pakistan,” the bench observed.
