Opener Shane Watson and Rilee Rossouw took Quetta Gladiators home in a comfortable 161 run-chase against Multan Sultans at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Gladiators won by eight wickets in the 18th over, with Watson’s blitz of 61 runs off 40 balls, including 11 boundaries.
Rossouw scored 67 off 45 with 10 boundaries and one six with 148.88 strike rate. In-form Umar Akmal contributed 17 runs off 18 balls in the run chase.
Muhammad Irfan Junior and Shahid Afridi took one wicket each from Sultans in the encounter.
With Wednesday’s victory, Gladiators have maintained their winning momentum by hitting victory stand in all-three its games.
Skipper Shoaib Malik offered resistance against the Gladiators’ bowling attack with his score of 53 off 37 with four boundaries and two sixes at the strike rate of 143.24, before giving his wicket on the ball of fast bowler Sohail Tanvir.
Muhammad Irfan (Junior) and Ghulam Mudassar took two wickets each, while Muhammad Nawaz, Fawad Ahmed and Sohail Tanvir took one wicket each.
Gladiators’ dropped Ahmad Shehzad as the opener failed to perform in the previous two games.
