ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on vehemently denied media reports alleging that Irfan Mangi, a Sindhi officer, was brought from Sindh to arrest Sindhis.
In a statement, NAB said that it is taking action across-the-broad throughout the country to eradicate the menace of corruption in accordance with law and no province enjoys immunity in this regard.
It said that its officers have no affiliation with any party, individual or group.” NAB condemns provincialism. NAB officers have first and last affiliation with the state and are performing their duties with honesty, transparently, dedication in accordance with law,” NAB said.
“The baseless propaganda against NAB is aimed at impacting NAB activities. NAB will continue its working in accordance with law,” NAB added.
The NAB Karachi team had arrested Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani from Islamabad in a case of possessing assets beyond known sources of income. The arrest was supervised by Operations Division and Intelligence Wing of NAB headquarters under the supervision of NAB chairman.
The medical checkup of Durrani was conducted. He was presented immediately in the accountability court for transit remand. The accountability court Islamabad granted three-day transit remand of the accused. NAB also finalised the arrangements for shifting of the accused.
