KARACHI: Sindh Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders on Tuesday staged a protest demo and sit-in in front of the Chief Minister (CM) House against the worsening law and order situation in the Sindh province, demanding that a law and order district coordination committees be set up on an urgent basis.
As per the details, PTI Members Provincial Assembly (MPA) led by opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi and PTI Sindh chapter General Secretary Haleem Adil Sheikh went to the CM House, where they observed the sit-in and chanted slogans against the poor law and order situation.
Wearing black armbands, they stood on the steps of the CM House and demanded that serious and practical efforts be made to contain the growing lawlessness in the province.
They refused to take tea and biscuits sent for them from the CM House; however, talks were held between the PTI lawmakers and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah later.
After the talks, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Syed Nasir Shah, Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Opposition Leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi, PTI Sindh General Secretary Haleem Adil Sheikh and other MPAs addressed a press conference.
During the conference, Tthe government’s side said that the district coordination committees on law and order would be formed if there were no legal hurdles in the process.
However, talking to the media outside the premises of Sindh assembly, Firdous Shamim said that innocent citizens are being killed in Sindh on a daily basis and all these incidents are linked to the provincial government in one way or another.
“Those who talk about Bangladesh are introducing lawlessness in the megacity,” he said.
He warned that all PTI MPA’s in the provincial assembly would go for a large-scale protest if the police officers involved in recent crimes were not removed within a week. “We also demand a high-level probe into the Rimsha murder case,” he said while adding that all black sheep involved in lawlessness should be sent to jail.
On the other hand, Haleem Adil Sheikh said that the people of Sindh do not want to see the return of ethnic riots like mayhems of May 12 and September 30, alleging that the Sindh CM had tried to fan ethnic hatreds and further criticising him for not offering condolence to murdered Irshad Ranjhani’s family personally.
“The government took notice of Ranjhani’s murder after six days. No government minister went to offer condolence to his family,” he said.
“People like Raheem Shah would have not dared to murder Ranjhani if Ali Soomro, the man who attacked PTI MPA Ramzan Ghnachi, had been arrested timely,” the local government minister concluded.
