Govt to administer polio vaccine to children up to 10 years

–Punjab to play compelling role for Balochistan’s development, promises CM Buzdar

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Sunday announced that children till the age of 10 years will be administrated polio drops after two new cases of polio surfaced in Lahore after two years.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was briefed about the new cases of polio in the province and told the children were administered polio drops under the anti-polio campaign, however, they were not administered the zero dose of the vaccine.

Stating that the polio virus as a dangerous disease, the Punjab chief minister ordered that the age of children be raised to 10 years and ordered the department concerned to take steps.

He added that the health department teams should ensure that every child is administered polio drops and that no child should be left.

Expressing dissatisfaction, the Punjab CM said there is no use of just talking and said that actions should be taken immediately to ensure that children are administered the vaccine.

He added that no negligence or shortcoming will be tolerated in this regard.

The chief minister further directed the authorities to take notice of the sewage situation at Outfall Road and that steps be taken to provide clean water to the locals. CM Buzdar said an office of the Water and Sanitation Agency should be established at the Outfall Road.

Spokesperson to the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Gill shared that the CM directed to fast-track the anti-polio campaign. He added that the chief minister has summoned all the provincial commissioners and deputy commissioners on Monday for a meeting.

BALOCHISTAN DEVELOPMENT:

Punjab CM Buzdar said that Punjab will surely play a compelling role for the development of Balochistan and all resources would be utilised in this connection.

Talking to Balochistan Minister for Trade and Industry Muhammad Khan who called on him here on Sunday, Buzdar said that Balochistan is very close to his heart and people of the province are his brothers.

Matters of mutual interest and promotion of inter-provincial harmony came under discussion.

Buzdar said that although Balochistan was neglected during former regimes, the PTI government is vigilant for its development and progress. “We are working together for new Pakistan and a common man here will cherish same facilities as that of a rich man,” he added.

The chief minister said that they will together form new Pakistan and role of Balochistan is this regard is remarkable. He said that they will cooperate to setup a cardiology centre at Balochistan.

Buzdar said that the inter-provincial harmony, brotherhood and unity will be promoted as coordinated effort to make Pakistan developed is the need of hour.
