Television news anchor Mansoor Ali Khan on Thursday responded to criticism after his picture made rounds on social media in which he posed with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Hina Pervez Butt.
On Sunday, the PML-N lawmaker posted a picture with Khan on Twitter. “With Meray Kaptaan @_Mansoor_Ali,” she said in the caption.

Twitterati gave mixed reactions to the photograph while some questioned why Khan was spending time with a politician belonging to the opposition political party. A number of people went a step further and praised both ‘as a couple’.
Reacting to flak, Khan took to Twitter and shared a video in which he clarified his position on the matter. Khan said that he was invited to a gathering where Butt was also present, adding that members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also attended the eve.

“People belonging to different political parties and fields were a part of that gathering. Some people are trying to spread rumours and false information regarding the matter,” he added.
