Struggle to stabilise PAC not for any individual: Shah

–PPP leader warns govt against removing Shehbaz as PAC chairman

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khurshid Shah said on Wednesday that the struggle to stabilise the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was not for the sake of any single person.

“We want to see each and every institution, including the parliament, be stable because democracy is all about setting good traditions and strengthening institutions,” he said while speaking to media persons here.

The PPP leader further said that if the government tried to remove Shehbaz Sharif as the PAC chairman, the opposition would not remain silent.

“It will be difficult for them to run the house,” he said, adding that the opposition may resort to the behaviour the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers displayed on opposition benches while besieging the assembly.

Taking a jibe at the ruling PTI, Shah also said the government takes “U-turns” on every matter due to its lack of experience and tries to blame the opposition for its failures.

He added that immediate steps should be taken to eliminate inflation and solve the problems of the poor so that people could take a sigh of relief.
