KARACHI: Karachi police on Wednesday registered a case against Fix It founder leader Alamgir Khan and eight other people, including Sadaqat Abro, for throwing sewage before Sindh Chief Minister’s (CM) house in Karachi.
According to the details, Civil Lines police also arrested Fix It member Saifullah after registering the case.
Social activist Alamgir Khan who got fame from his campaign to spray-paint the portrait of then chief minister Qaim Ali Shah alongside uncovered sewer holes and garbage dumps in various part of Karachi in January 2016, heads Fix It.
On February 25, 2016, he was arrested by the police when he tried to empty the garbage bins outside the Sindh CM House in Karachi. The next day, he was released on bail.
In March 2016, a city court in Karachi indicted him in a case of wrongful restraint.
In August 2018, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) awarded him ticket to contest the by-election on NA-243 Karachi East-II Constituency after which he was elected as a PTI MNA from on October 14, 2018, becoming more popular in Karachi.
Alamgir says that his struggle is for welfare of Karachi’s common citizens who must fulfill its responsibility as a citizen even if the government fails to do its job. He wants Karachi to become a clean and green city.
