KARACHI: A Category-3 fire that started on Monday night at a cotton go-down in Karachi’s SITE Industrial Area was still raging on 13 hours after it was first reported to officials.

According to the chief fire officer, the fire was first reported at 8:42 pm. Following this, the fire brigade team reached the site to put off the fire.

According to fire brigade officials, “12 vehicles were at the scene and engaged in trying to control and douse the blaze but its cause was yet to be determined.”

It was further reported by the fire chief that “the go-down had cotton bales stored inside, which had made it easier for the flames to spread quickly and challenging to be brought under control”.
