ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly (MNA) Salahuddin Ayubi has been unanimously elected as the chairman of Standing Committee on Narcotics Control.
The election was made during the meeting of the Standing Committee on Narcotics Control held in Committee Room No 7, Parliament House, Islamabad on Monday.
The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the National Assembly Secretariat special secretary welcomed the members and briefed them about the procedure for election of the chairman.
Member Standing Committee on Narcotics Control Shahida Akhtar Ali proposed the name of MNA Salahuddin Ayubi as the chairman of Standing Committee on Narcotics Control, which was seconded by MNA/Member Muhammad Ameer Sultan. Accordingly, MNA Salahuddin Ayubi was unanimously elected as the chairman.
The special secretary congratulated the newly-elected chairman on behalf of the speaker and the National Assembly Secretariat secretary. He also assured them of full support of the secretariat for the effective and efficient functioning of the committee under the supervision of the speaker.
The meeting was attended by the Members/MNAs Gul Dad Khan, Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Mansoor Hayat Khan, Muhammad Ameer Sultan, Jamil Ahmed Khan, Uzma Riaz, Nusrat Wahid, Salahuddin Ayubi, Shahida Akhtar Ali and Mohsin Dawar.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production, in a meeting held at the Parliament House, Islamabad on Monday, unanimously elected MNA Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir as its chairman.
The National Assembly Secretariat special secretary welcomed the members and briefed them about the procedure for election of the chairman. MNA/Member Rahat Aman Ullah Bhatti proposed the name of MNA Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir as the chairman while MNA/Member Imran Khattak seconded his candidature. Accordingly, MNA Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir was unanimously elected as the chairman.
The National Assembly Secretariat special secretary congratulated the newly-elected chairman on behalf of the speaker, National Assembly Secretariat secretary and assured him full support from the secretariat for the effective and efficient functioning of the committee.
Newly-elected Chairman Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir expressed his gratitude to the members for posing confidence in him and assured them to run the business of the committee with consensus. The members while appreciating views of the honourable chairman assured him their fullest support in the process of legislation.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Prince Muhammad Nawaz Allai, Imran Khattak, Rahat Aman Ullah Bhatti, Niaz Ahmed Jakhar, Sajida Begum, Saira Bano, Chaudhry Abid Raza, Ch. Mehmood Bashir Virk, Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir, Irfan Ali Leghari and Afreen Khan besides the senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
