The daughter-in-law of a hard to track businessman is to have her birthday in Switzerland. A grand affair, with two chalets already having been booked and many rooms of a nearby hotel. A posh set in the guest list.
A new trend, this. If the terribly extravagant trend of destination weddings wasn’t plush enough, destination birthdays are also a thing now.
What next? Destination funerals?

A bright young star she was, taken from the world too soon. A Pakistani chef, who was a contestant on a reality TV cooking show, had endeared herself to audiences the world over by showing a resolute spirit despite a fatal disease.
Many of the who’s who from the legal fraternity showed up at the funeral, since her father is a prominent lawyer. Everyone present was trying to meet and hobnob with the Chief Justice. Also attending was the recently retired CJ, whom not many wanted to meet. Such is the flaky nature of the legal community as a whole, some exceptions notwithstanding.
Sic transit gloria mundi!
