PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Sunday directed for an integrated media communication strategy for the provincial government in order to inform people about various reforms, legislation, developmental activities, rehabilitation of newly merged districts and efficient services in all sectors following the KP-Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) merger.
He was presiding over a meeting to finalise the media strategy for the province after the integration of the newly merged districts into KP. Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai, Advisor to CM Ajmal Wazir, Federal Minister Murad Saeed and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Iftikhar Durrani attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the overall media strategy after the merger of the newly merged districts of erstwhile FATA and made a number of decisions in this regard.
Addressing the meeting, the KP chief minister directed to immediately post officers of the information department for making dedicated public relations in the newly merged districts in addition to the provision of additional office accommodation for the headquarter and officers on-field duties in the newly merged districts.
The KP CM said that a comprehensive developmental mainstreaming and integration plan has been finalised for the benefit of the people. “Hopefully, our efforts would not only lead to the mainstreaming and integration of the people and areas of the newly merged districts but would also open these areas for development projects,” he added.
“At the end of the day, the people of these areas would have developmental activities in terms of agriculture, tourism, industrialisation and integrated trade and commercial activities that would provide jobs to the jobless and overall prosperity for the whole of the region,” he further added.
The KP CM also directed the information department to be ready for challenging responsibilities in the future on the merger’s completion.
