Furniture market fire brought under control

LAHORE: A fire that had erupted in a furniture market on Maulana Shaukat Ali Road was brought under control a few hours later on Thursday night, rescue and security authorities said.

According to rescue officials, at least 10 fire brigade vehicles had engaged in the process of controlling the blaze and eventually putting it out.

The rescue sources said that no one died or was wounded in the fire incident, adding that furniture and other valuables worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes.

According to media reports, the fire destroyed around 40 shops in the market.

The cause of the fire is still not known.

Cooling process was underway till the filing of this report.
