Court orders police to file case against woman for ‘killing’ cat

A city court in Karachi on Friday ordered registration of a case against a woman for allegedly murdering a pet cat in a road accident.

According to reports, she allegedly ran over the cat on February 1 while driving in DHA’s Phase VIII.

Faiq Jagirani, the petitioner, said the animal was severely injured in the accident. When the woman was asked to get the cat treated, she refused after which it died, he added.

The petitioner said he even contacted the Darkhan police station to register a case against the woman but was met with resistance so he approached the court, the reports said.

The court has now ordered the police to file a murder case against the suspect and initiate an investigation.

According to the petitioner, people around the world work to protect animals but it was easy to get away with their murder in Pakistan.
