KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday demanded the provincial home department, Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Director General (DG) Rangers and several others to submit a progress report regarding the recovery of over 60 missing persons by March 6.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Naimatullah and Justice KK Agha heard the petition.
The court observed that both the lacklustre performance of the provincial task force and Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and the derisory police reports that have so far been presented were below par.
The Sindh interior secretary who was present in the court was also taken to task by the bench. “Perhaps we should summon heads of the institutions and question them as well,” the court added after finishing with him.
It then ordered the provincial home secretary to overlook the case personally and ensure that the teams assigned the case are delivering desirable results.
