ISLAMABAD: UK artist Sonia Nisa who earlier made a calligraphy portrait of Prime Minister Imran Khan, met the premier at his Bani Gala residence on Wednesday and gifted him the sketch.
The artist who is based in Qatar made the sketch incorporating the national anthem of Pakistan. The time-lapse video of Sonia making the sketch made rounds on social media and appealed to followers to help her spread the message so she could present the portrait to the premier in person.
“I decided to design and paint a calligraphy portrait of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan with the Pakistani national anthem personified within his face. This will be displayed at an Art Exhibition in Souq Waqif, Doha, Qatar,” she had shared on Instagram.
“This project took me about 8 to 10 hours to complete and I was up awake painting it until 2 am on Monday so I could possibly gift it to him when he visits Qatar the next day (January 22, 2019) but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to meet him nor pass the gift onto him”, she added.
“An honest, inspirational, and just leader who I sincerely admire as a role model!” she further said.
On Wednesday, PM Imran welcomed Sonia and her family at his Bani Gala residence. Special Assistant to the premier Naeemul Haq and other officials were also present on the occasion.
