CAPE TOWN: Pakistan have won the final T20I against the Proteas by 27 runs, preventing the home side from sweeping the series.

Chasing 169 to win, Pakistan had the Proteas under early pressure, removing openers Reeza Hendricks (5) and Janneman Malan (2) to leave the home side on 14/2 after 3 overs.

A woefully out of form Heinrich Klaasen (2) soon followed which brought Proteas skipper, David Miller to the wicket to join Rassie van der Dussen.

The pair looked in control but fell in quick succession with first Miller (13) and then Van der Dussen (41) which left the Proteas in trouble on 72/5 in the 11th over.

Despite some big hitting by Chris Morris (55*), wickets continued to fall and ultimately, the Proteas fell well short.

Earlier, regular wickets from the Proteas bowlers kept the Pakistan batsmen in check throughout their innings.

It was only a last over blast by Shadab Khan which saw the visitors to a fairly respectable total. Khan took 21 runs of Andile Phehlukwayo’s last over as he clubbed three sixes to finish on 22 off just 8 balls.

Mohammad Rizwan (26) and Azhar Ali (22) were the other contributors to the Pakistan score.

Beuran Hendricks was the pick of the Proteas bowlers with 4/14 in his four overs.
