Key accused in Rimsha murder case sent on physical remand

KARACHI: A local court on Thursday sent key accused in Rimsha murder, Zulfiqar Wassan, to police custody on physical remand for three days.

Wassan is accused of killing Rimsha in the name of honour. Khairpur Police on Wednesday arrested accused Zulfiqar in the murder case and started a probe into the incident. One suspect Ghaffar Wassan has already been arrested.

A 14-year-old girl, Rimsha was killed at her house in village Pir Guddu near Kotdigi last week. Kotdigi area is a stronghold of former home minister Manzoor Wassan. The crime rate in the area is generally high.

Rimsha’s mother said that the kidnappers handed over her daughter’s body to them after the kidnapping and killing her while the media is reporting that Rimsha was killed for her willingness to make a marry out of her own free will.

On Monday, Sindh Assembly witnessed a pandemonium after its chair refused to take up a resolution pertaining to the killing of Rimsha. Opposition lawmaker from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Dua Bhutto asked Deputy Speaker Rehana Leghari to take up the matter for debate.
