RAWALPINDI: In yet another incident of rapists threatening the security of women in Pakistan, a woman was robbed of valuables and then subjected to alleged gang rape by seven suspects during a house robbery in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

According to the police, the woman was alone at home as her husband had left for his native village in Kasur when the criminals dressed as “security officials” forced their way into her house.

The robbers locked the gate from inside, snatched the victim’s mobile phone and took turns to rape her in her own bedroom.

Once sexually satisfied, the men stole gold jewellery, two LED TV sets and Rs177,000 in cash.

Before leaving, the men threatened the victim of dire consequences if she told anyone about the episode.

Rawat Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Ijaz Qureshi while speaking to a local news outlet said that a case was lodged on the victim’s complaint and two of the seven suspects, identified as Sulaiman Fayyaz, Noman Khan, Taimoor alias Sunny, Waqas alias Cheeku, Yasir Pathan, Atif and Zeeshan alias Mani, were taken into custody.

In a separate incident at a sewing centre in Gangal, another woman was allegedly raped by Adnan Murtaza on behest of Jahangir Khokar and Rizwan Khokar.

SHO Airport Inspector Israr Satti told a local news outlet that raids were being carried out after the registration of an FIR; however, the accused persons had disappeared from the area.
