Usman Buzdar “might be” appointed Punjab CM after Aleem Khan’s arrest

PTI Punjab MPA from Taunsa Sharif is rumoured to be the next Punjab chief minister after Aleem Khan’s arrest by the National Accountability Bureau.

“Look, the province needs a new chief executive after Aleem Khan’s arrest,” said a party insider on the condition of anonymity. “There are many others in the run, and Bani Gala is evaluating through all of them.”

“There are, of course, the incumbents, but Jehangir Tareen, like Aleem Khan now, is out of the running. Chaudhry Sarwar, another incumbent, is already the Governor.”

“Yes, Buzdar, as opposed to the ones that I have mentioned, has never been the CM, but at least he already has the official designation and that’s a plus point, regardless of how minor it is.”

Other insiders, however, weren’t so optimistic about Buzdar’s elevation to the provincial top slot. “The Jehangir Tareen judgment showed that there is no reason for a person to stop being CM; in fact, Tareen continues to be CM of two provinces, not just one. Aleem Khan, Tareen, Sarwar, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, they all will continue to be Punjab CMs.”

“Buzdar will be rewarded by his continuing to retain the designation and also by buying him 5 colouring books (Disney’s Frozen) and a geometry box (Ben 10.)”
