LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) late on Tuesday night stopped former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani from traveling to Bangkok.
As per details, the senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was denied clearance at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
After being informed that his name was placed on the Exit Control List (ECL), Gilani left the airport. He was accompanied by former National Assembly (NA) deputy speaker Faisal Karim Kundi and other PPP leaders.
Gilani wanted to travel to Bangkok via flight TJ-364 of a private airline where he was supposed to participate in a global conference of the Universal Peace Federation on February 10.
Upon finding out that his name was on the no-fly list, Gillani expressed his anger at Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“Political revenge will not be good for PM Imran. I have been appearing before courts consistently and had informed the judges and relevant authorities of my foreign visit beforehand too,” he said.
