Army official held for running car theft racket in Capital

ISLAMABAD: An army official Dilber Hussain on Wednesday was nabbed by Islamabad police for car theft.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered against the army officer in Bara Kahu police station, the arrested was also running a car theft racket.

“The car was stolen from Bara Kahu area on February 2. Police have footage in which the accused was stealing the car along with his two crime partners,” a senior police official told this scribe on the condition of anonymity.

He further said that the police came to know that the person is a serving army official dur5ing the investigation. “We raided and arrested Dilber from Islamabad,” he maintained.

Officer Dilbar was heading a gang who used to steal cars from the different areas of twin cities. A 30-bore pistol was also recovered from the accused.

Police said that the accused was handed over to the military police for departmental inquiries and investigation on Tuesday night.

Upon contact, Superintendent Police (SP) City Sayed Aziz confirmed the information by saying that further investigation is underway.
