KARACHI: Pakistani fishermen, who have been imprisoned in India for the last 18 years, have written to their families in Pakistan. In their letter, they have urged the Pakistani government to lodge a request for their release.

The letter said that Indian authorities have said that they will be willing to let them go if an official request is made through a diplomatic channel.

They were all residents of Rehri Goth in Karachi. Four were taken into captivity by Indian authorities and one passed away in 2010.

The letter that was written at the end of December last year was finally received by one of the fishermen’s sister.
