ISLAMABAD: Multiple parts of the country, including the federal capital Islamabad and Lahore, on Tuesday endured earthquake tremors.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the earthquake took place at a depth of 104 kilometres North East of Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir at a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale.
The tremors were also felt in Sargodha, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Muzaffarabad, Malakand, Mianwali, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Nowshera, Swat, Pind Dadan Khan, Balakot, Peshawar, Chilas, Bajaur and adjoining regions.
Fortunately, no loss of lives was reported in the wake of the quake; however, a number of people were seen vacating their homes in panic.
An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale had also taken place at a depth of 208 kilometres in the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan on Saturday.
