SC approves bail of accused in triple murder case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday approved the bail plea of an accused in a triple murder case.

A two-member bench of the apex court led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa heard the plea of an accused in the case at Lahore Registry of the top court.

Sajjad Qamar, lawyer of the accused, informed the court that the case was filed in Pakistan against his client when he was in Dubai for employment purposes.

Qamar added that police officials were given all evidence of his residency in the foreign country but his client was still arrested after returning to Pakistan.

He pleaded the court for approving bail of the accused but the complainant’s lawyer expressed objections, arguing that statements of the witnesses were recorded in the case.

“We have an issue that we don’t read regulations. The court can approve bail even a day before releasing verdict in accordance with the law,” CJP Khosa remarked.

“Innocent must not be placed behind bars even for a single day,” he further observed

The top court then approved bail plea of the accused.
