ISLAMABAD: Dr Nafisa Shah has likened Prime Minister Imran Khan to Mikhail Gorbachev, the last president of the Soviet Union, saying that the premier’s actions were not unlike the former leader as “indications of disaster are now emerging after the tsunami”.

In her statement, the information secretary of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government brought disaster to the economy, agriculture and all other institutions of the country. She alleged that foreign loans had risen up to Rs1200 billion after the devaluation of Pakistani currency.

Shah accused that the “puppets and friends” were ineligible while there was nothing left to ministers to brief on the performance of the government.

She said that it appears as if the only target left for ministers is to criticize Asif Ali Zardari and opposition leaders, whereas, highlighting national issues is being termed as seeking a National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) now.

She added that the government could not run by magic but it needed to make concrete policies to eliminate the issues. She said the PPP wanted measures providing relief to farmers and the construction of houses for five million homeless people.

Shah added that the “puppet prime minister” has been exposed in first five months as “Imran Khan and his friends were not elected but were brought to put the nation in difficulties”.
