KARACHI: Karachi National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has a filed corruption reference against land grabber Javed Iqbal and his accomplices including a man named Qazi Jan Muhammad on the charges of embezzling government land measuring 29 acres.

The corruption reference was admitted by an Accountability Court in Karachi in which it was charged that 29 acres of state land was grabbed by the accused persons via insertion of fake and fraudulent entries in the revenue record which was masterminded by accused Javed Iqbal in connivance with officials of the revenue department.

According to the details, the accused launched an illegal housing project named Al Raheem Villas on the said land which was further fraudulently sold to the general public by Javed Iqbal, Amir Ali and Irshad Khaskheli.

Accused Qazi Jan Muhammad, who was then the Malir Deputy Commissioner (DC), fraudulently issued sanads of a fake village named Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth Block F-II for the same land thus facilitating the land grabbing.

Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth Block F-II and Al Raheem Raza City were already declared as illegal from Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), thus intimating the general public and concerned government departments to exercise caution in investments after due verification.

The accused persons were arrested and are currently under judicial remand, whereas the accused Javed Iqbal has been arrested in a separate case.
